February 2023

I enjoyed seeing many of you at the Chelsea retailer breakfast at the end of January. I hope you’ll agree that 2023 is looking like a bumper year in the neighbourhood with all the new openings, the Coronation celebrations and an enhanced Summer in Sloane Square. You can hear more at our Sloane Street retailer breakfast on 9 March. If you haven’t done so already, please RSVP to Kaya.Dewulf@cadogan.co.uk. We look forward to seeing you there.

Sloane Street Transformation

It has now been just over a month since the northbound carriageway closed and the major works began to the west side of the street. We know that conditions are challenging for many of you as utilities are diverted, cellars filled and paving taken up and replaced.

As ever, we would love Sloane Street retailers to participate in Chelsea in Bloom this year. However we are aware that the ongoing works might impact the ability to create external floral displays, especially on the west side of the Street. If you have any questions relating to this, please do pick up directly with my colleague Sophia Routledge – sophia.routledge@cadogan.co.uk.

If you need better to understand the impact of the works on your business please contact Cate Green or Helen McConnell from FM Conway on sloane.street@fmconway.co.uk. A new community liaison group will launch on 1 March.

Sharing safety & security information

We are working with Knightsbridge and King’s Road Partnerships to introduce retailers to the Sentry SIS crime intelligence sharing platform. This allows you to share details of suspected criminals, incidents and vehicles with other retailers. We hope it will replace the existing WhatsApp groups that are not GDPR-compliant. If you are interested in learning more about Sentry SIS please contact Kar on kar-hin.li@thewelcomepeople.com.

E-cargo bike

Cadogan has recently introduced a waste consolidation point, tucked away behind Sloane Street, with waste in the area now being collected by First Mile’s electric cargo bikes.

As well as ensuring that First Mile waste bags are collected in a timely manner, this project removes large unsightly waste collection trucks from our already congested streets, thereby reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality – and ultimately leading to a cleaner, healthier and happier Chelsea, in line with Cadogan’s Chelsea 2030 vision.

‘Sloane Street – past-present-future’ walking tours

Sloane Street has been home to a fascinating array of characters over the years who have honed its unique character – from the buildings to the businesses, establishments and individuals and their stories. You are invited to join a walking tour led by our archivist and heritage marketing manager, Kira Charatan, who will explore Sloane Street’s past and how our neighbourhood’s heritage is shaping the Street’s exciting future.

A limited number of complimentary Tour dates are being offered to retailers from Easter onwards. To find out more please contact kira.charatan@cadogan.co.uk
