Sloane Street Transformation
Utilities contractor Reach Active were asked to suspend all works on Sloane Street for the Queen’s Funeral. They are now back on site but working to a new schedule. The presentation here shows the location of worksites over the next three months. They will not now move to the east side of the Street until August 2023.
Squarepoint are excavating a small number of cellars on Sloane Street and are infilling them so that they can support the new public realm scheme. Cadogan will contact any retailers that are directly affected.
All relevant information about the transformation of the Street can be found on the Future Sloane Street website.

Tax-free shopping returns
We are delighted by the UK government’s plans to re-introduce tax-free shopping for international visitors, which will boost growth and create jobs.
Cadogan is a partner of AIR (Association of International Retail) and has long lobbied for the re-introduction of tax-free shopping for overseas visitors to be reinstated. Luxury membership body Walpole released a report in May, which found that the UK could reach retail sales of £1.2 billion and attract an additional 600,000 tourists with reintroduction of tax-free. London will soon be the closest, largest international city to Europe, where both European tourists and those from farther afield will benefit from
tax-free shopping.
To discover more about the return of tax-free, please join usfor a webinar next Tuesday, 18 October, where a panel of industry experts will discuss implications, timeframes and more. Please click on the invitation (right) in advance of the event to secure your place.
A bit of a buss about the Street
Did you know that the Cadogan Hotel not only provides a sumptuously welcome environment for human guests, but across the street in Cadogan Place Gardens it also offers a home to bees?
A dedicated Cadogan Belmond team look after the four state-of-the-art hives and their treasured contents. The honey is harvested and sold to guests, with profits going to a local London literacy charity for disadvantaged children. This is a wonderfully creative initiative that resonates with both Cadogan Belmond’s literary narrative – who could forget the Oscar Wilde associations – as well as their sustainability credentials.
And to conclude on a sweet note, Belmond has kindly gifted us five jars of honey to share with you (on a first-come-first-served-basis). Please just email me with ‘Sloane Street Honey’ in the subject line, plus your name and contact details and we will arrange for it to be delivered to your Sloane Street store.
